Bullying Prevention Assembly

Alex Duran, who was our guest speaker on October 8th, is a sought-out speaker on the subject of bullying, youth motivation and fitness in schools across the country. Has published five books, including “Veterans: Our Honored U.S. Heroes” and “Lean But Not Mean.” and created an online certification called Youth Fit Pro where teachers, coaches and veterans can be a force for good by empowering the youth of today and tomorrow. Alex’s message took students on a journey through his own life story – a kid who struggled with fitting in and had a victim mentality. His life story is very funny and got students engaged and relatable. It was an exciting and beneficial assembly.

Hispanic Heritage Month

Hispanic Heritage Month

Students and Families gathered for an event to remember! Hispanic Heritage Celebration was on October 17th from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. BMSS' Drama Club put on several performances. Bianca Lopez from 5th grade sang and danced to the tunes of a Selena song. Pollo Tropical Restaurant catered this year's event with their Latin spices and influence. Plates were served by staff and all proceeds went to BMSS student activities!

GeoBee Florida State Competition Semifinalist

The results are in! The National Geographic Society named Daniel Macedo, an eighth grader at Broward Math and Science Schools, as one of the semifinalists eligible to compete in the 2020 National Geographic GeoBee State Competition. The contest will be held at Jacksonville University on Friday, March 27, 2020.

Trunk or Treat

Trunk or Treat

We hosted our school's Trunk or Treat Celebration on Thursday, October 26th, 2020. BMSS families participated in decorating the trunks of their cars and giving out treats to the students and their families. Halloween kids music in the background added to our spooky but family friendly event! Student participation surpassed our expectations by far! We had students dressed in all kinds of fun costumes-from doctors to judges to Superman! Students collected lots of candy and had lots of fun!
